Independent reviews, transparent methodology.
SpykeVision is an independent, reader-supported home-theater publication. I review projectors the way I'd want them reviewed: with real measurements, full transparency about test conditions, and no marketing spin. If a number looks too good or too bad, I tell you why, and how I measured it.
How I measure
Every review is built on a consistent bench process so results are comparable across products:
- Brightness: measured in manufacturer-calibrated picture modes, across the full zoom and aperture range, after thermal stabilization.
- Native contrast: Full on/off, per zoom and aperture position.
- ANSI contrast: 8×8 pattern, measured at both centered and shifted lens positions.
- ADL contrast: across scene brightness levels from On/Off through 50% (ANSI).
- Optics: sharpness patterns, distortion via laser level, uniformity maps, and lens-shift behavior.
The test pattern, meter, and conditions are documented alongside each chart — so anyone can reproduce a measurement. Spotted something off? Write to me — corrections are published openly.
